A dark retelling of a classic fairy tale. The small town of Marbach hasn’t changed its face for the last couple of hundred years. The forest surrounding it no longer frightens local residents, but the legends about the dreadful witch of the Gingerbread House keep them at a distance. Gretel lives on the outskirts of Marbach, hiding from the tormenting ghosts of the past. Ten years ago, she and her brother ended up in a real hell. Now, as a young woman, she agrees to tell a journalist her story—unraveling the threads of memory with the help of a psychologist. She will have to remember everything. And above all, face the truth: one day in the forest, the children were hunted by the witch—by demons, the Jack with a rat’s head, and even their own mother.
