October 1875. The robbery of the century: money intended for new ships of the Baltic Fleet is stolen. The next day, under mysterious circumstances, actor Mikhail Stoletov of the Small Imperial Theatre dies. And one more day later, threatening leaflets are slipped into the office of “Vedomosti”: soon bombs will explode with a poisonous gel, and Moscow will drown in blood! Detective Marmeladov suspects that the three cases are connected and sets out to investigate them simultaneously—although that promises three times more trouble.
