We live in an era when crises, shocks, and changes—big and small—happen almost constantly. Perhaps this is because humanity has passed the point of bifurcation and singularity has arrived (more on that later in the book). Or maybe change and chaos have always been there, and only now—because time has accelerated (of course, subjectively, driven by rapid technological development and population growth)—these changes occur much more often and overlap. Economic crises every few years, regional conflicts, natural catastrophes, and a pandemic helped us once again realize how unpredictable and complex the world we live in can be. Constant change and uncertainty in our lives don’t just disrupt our plans, but also lead to frequent periods of stress and anxiety, which in turn affect our psychological and physiological state. Can we do something to learn how to live and thrive under the conditions of the modern world? This book is an attempt to answer that question.
