Plato wrote one of the greatest works of ancient Greek thought in 360 BC. This text remains relevant to this day. It consists of conversations devoted to the problems of an ideal state. The dialogue includes a systematization and a brief analysis of six forms of government—from the best to the worst: monarchy, aristocracy, timocracy, oligarchy, democracy, and tyranny. The edition includes a detailed introduction and comments on each part of the dialogues, written by the Russian philosopher V. N. Karpov.
