This is a novel about friendship and betrayal, social inequality, and conflicts—about hopes and unrealized dreams. And about forbidden love for a person living in another world— the world behind a high fence.
An elite oil workers’ settlement and a poor miners’ village are two different worlds separated by a high fence. In each, their own laws and customs reign, and their residents hate each other. And only a terrible tragedy can bring an end to the age-old enmity and push the kids from two different social worlds to change their attitude toward one another. This is a coming-of-age story of four children, each with their own fate and their own future. But the tragedy of the past tightly connects them for many years and doesn’t let each of them go their own way.
