Race of Heroes

The action of the novel takes place in the near future of the Russian state. Poverty and total stagnation lead to hunger, local conflicts, and widespread banditry. To reduce protest sentiments, once a year a grand show called “The Heroes’ Race” is held. During the show, twenty of the most dangerous and cruel criminals go through several stages in the hope of saving their lives and gaining freedom. For all three days, they will be hunted by professional “hunters,” and any citizen also has the right to personally deal with any of the participants, receiving a substantial reward in return. The heroes will have to endure harsh tests in the hope of winning the show and staying alive—but that’s not all. They also have a goal: to change the life of an entire state.
