“The Naked King” is a play by Yevgeny Schwartz, created based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tales “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” “The Swineherd,” and “The Princess and the Pea.”
Written in 1934, Schwartz’s play, with its dangerous allusions, was first published only in 1960. “The Naked King” was not staged during the playwright’s lifetime, yet it was this very play that later brought him wide fame.
