A Hero of Our Time: A Work by Mikhail Lermontov (by Belinsky)

“A Hero of Our Time. The Essay by M. Lermontov” is an article by the literary critic Vissarion Grigoryevich Belinsky, published anonymously in the summer of 1840 in connection with the release of the first edition of “A Hero of Our Time.” The novel and especially Pechorin were attacked by the reactionary press. Belinsky sought to show that Pechorin is not an invented character, but a deeply realistic and life-like image.
