“The Genius of Russian Detection I.D. Putilin” is a series of stories by Roman Dobry (under this pseudonym the writer Roman Luch Antropov published, 1876–1913).
Detective stories about the famous Russian sleuth I.D. Putilin, written by Roman Luch Antropov, who was known to readers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries under the pseudonym Roman Dobry. Contemporary readers called Putilin “the Russian Sherlock Holmes.” The prototype of the literary hero was the head of the detective police of St. Petersburg, Putilin Ivan Dmitrievich (May 1830 – November 18, 1893). The author often based his works on Putilin’s own memoirs and also followed the traditions of adventure novels of his time.
