April 1904. The war with Japan is taking a bad turn for Russia: the battleship “Petropavlovsk” is sunk together with Admiral Makarov; eighteen days later, the Russian detachment of General Zasulich suffers defeat in the battle on the Yalu River. Japanese troops prepare to land on the Kwantung Peninsula and capture the fortified Jinzhou isthmus—these are the gates to Port Arthur. The same gates are Perekop for Sevastopol. Standing in their way is the Russian detachment of General Fok. It is he who will later be called the villain-given fate of the defense, because Fok will order a retreat without any necessity. But an experiment conducted in the distant future has disrupted the natural course of events.
