The hero of the novella "The General of the Commune" acts like a true internationalist. Dombrovsky fights on the barricades leading the National Guard, whose ranks include Frenchmen, Italians, Russians, Poles, and Belgians. All of them fight for the ideas of communist brotherhood—for “that state which we… did not dare dream of,” as Dombrovsky says. In the novel "The Seekers," by depicting the history of the creation of a locator, the confrontation in the laboratory and the Energy Systems Directorate, he does not describe technological processes; instead, he brings us into the twists and contradictions of complex conflicts.
