Description
The early 90s. In Murmansk, they are dividing up the fish fleet. Steamships are bought up under fish cooperatives. Margo is eight years old. She runs away with her parents from the city in refrigerated trucks to escape death. They are pursued by a local criminal boss, Victor Murmanskiy—the nickname Baron. He takes away all their business. Margo comes to live in Stavropol in an abandoned summer house. There’s no work for her parents—so the whole family starves. What saves them is that summer cottages have some scraps of carrion. That helps them not die of starvation. Margo grows up early. What will she choose—virtue or vice?
