The well-known writer Elena Rzhevskaya served as a military interpreter at army headquarters during the Second World War. In Berlin she took part in identifying the bodies of Hitler and Goebbels and in sorting through documents found in the bunker. She wrote about this in the book “Berlin, May 1945,” published in more than twenty countries around the world. In the present book, E. Rzhevskaya explores the phenomenon of fascism coming to power and shows readers what type of political figure fascist ideology brings to the forefront of history and how it affects the psychology and soul of a person who has succumbed to it.
