Description
When we are asleep, we have a “anchor” in the form of being awake. Based on this, we can claim that sleep is an illusion. As for life and death, we do not have such an anchor. Or we do, but we don’t know about it (don’t remember it)—just like we don’t know about an anchor while we’re asleep (except for lucid dreams). To establish, with respect to the anchor behind this reality, all you need is to die—meaning, to wake up.
Or, similarly with dreams—wake up consciously? When, during sleep, you suddenly realize who you are—especially in those terrifying moments—I tell myself: “There’s nothing to be afraid of—it’s only a dream.” What will I say if I fully recognize myself while awake? “There’s nothing to be afraid of—it’s only life?” If I die in my sleep, I always wake up. What will happen when I die while awake?
