Description
The Leningrad school of science fiction became famous thanks to many outstanding authors, such as Boris Strugatsky, Georgy Martynov, Ilya Varshavsky, Vadim Shefner, and Alexander Shalimov. However, one name stands out especially—not only because the person behind it was a woman. In the mid-1960s, Olga Larionova rose onto the literary horizon of science fiction with such brilliance that she quickly won a large number of fans. Her novel “The Leopard from the Top of Kilimanjaro” is considered not just one of her best works, but also a significant contribution to world science fiction. Many experts believe that if Larionova had been American, she would surely have received prestigious awards like the “Hugo” or “Nebula.” Even though her works were published rarely during the period from the 1960s to the 1980s, practically each of them resonated with readers’ hearts.

“The Contact Formula” is a novella about how even the strongest relationships between two people can be destroyed by words left unspoken and accumulated resentments.
