Everything seems wonderful in Pyotr Manusevich’s life. He is head of a department at a Moscow institute, considered an authority on a particular era of Russian history, his wife is a beautiful blonde… Once, on his mother’s birthday, she did something that seemed minor, but precisely it caused a heart attack for Pyotr and set off a chain of subsequent events that turned his entire life upside down.
