Fantasies About Another — Is That Cheating?

“I don’t want my ex. So what?” Fantasies about another—does that count as cheating?

The words of my beloved husband, spoken defiantly as he addresses his best friend, run right under my skin.

“We have a solid marriage—there’s trust and respect in it. There’s no room for infidelity. That’s what I believed.”

“From my point of view, yes, cheating,” says Seryoga. “If Adeline finds out, she won’t forgive.”

A short pause follows, and then Phil says quietly but confidently:

“She won’t find out. And if it even happens—there will be a green light for me to win Nastya back. A sign of fate. Because soon my desire is going to tear me apart into pieces…”

That day I showed nothing that I’d heard my husband’s rambling. Still, I thought very hard: does my future child really need a father who believes that fantasies about another person aren’t cheating? And what do you think?
