The events take place in New York in the apartment of the fish restaurant owner’s mother, Barney Cashman. The man is already over 40, with more than 20 years behind him spent with his wife. And one fine day he thinks about death—about how he lived a gray, boring life: never cheated on his wife, never fought, never got involved in any adventure, never had impressions or pleasant memories.
Barney decides to add a bit of variety to his measured existence.
