Description
Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavskii (1863–1938) was a Russian theater director, actor, and teacher— a reformer of the theater. Creator of the famous acting system, which has enjoyed enormous popularity in Russia and the world for 100 years. The first People’s Artist of the USSR (1936).

Questions of ethics in theater and an artist’s craft accompany literally every step of life in the art of this great stage reformer. This work is where Stanislavskii shares his thoughts about the essence of theatrical creativity, about dramaturgy, about the nature of an actor’s inner condition, about the director and the director’s place in the theater. Returning again and again to ethical problems, Stanislavskii strives above all to understand for himself the internal necessary connection between ethics and aesthetics.
