Daniil Granin (1919–2017) is a well-known prose writer and publicist, a participant in the Great Patriotic War from its first days to victory—starting as a militiaman and ending as commander of a company of heavy tanks. Author of more than thirty novels and documentary works, including “The Blockade Book” (together with Ales Adamovich).
