Before that fateful meeting in a dark alley, Mikhail Yezhov had no complaints about life: he worked as a private detective, regularly went to the gym, had no family, but had plenty of friends (and girlfriends)—what more could one want?
But on one fine night (or rather, terrible one), to his misfortune, he exchanged a handshake with who-knows-what.
So what is the poor fellow to do now, having found himself aboard a very real starship, in a very real future?
And to make matters worse, the captain of that starship has disappeared somewhere...
No way! Where else could he be but here, in Russia.

Whether he got there on his own or someone helped him—in any case, he has to be brought back somehow, but how?
After all, everyone around says confidently that time travel is impossible!
So maybe this isn’t the future at all?..
