Duma Key

Edgar Freemantle, owner of a successful construction company, is involved in a car accident. His injuries are severe: he lost his right hand, suffers from amnesia and chronic pain. Rage attacks break up Edgar’s marriage. Trying to find himself, and following a doctor’s advice, the main character moves to Florida, to Duma Cay, where he begins to paint.
On the island, Edgar meets and becomes friends with a seriously ill Elizabeth Eastlake and her companion, the attorney Jerome Wireman. Gradually, Edgar discovers that in her past Elizabeth is hiding some dark secret that begins to affect his paintings—more and more, as they start to influence reality itself.
