Jun dreams of winning the Keepers tournament to restore his family’s good name—if only his father weren’t forbidding him to participate, and if only the young man himself didn’t lack a magical mark.
But the stakes will prove to be far higher than his personal victory.
Sixteen-year-old Jun wants to prove he deserves to be called a warrior and become the new Keeper of the celestial magical scroll. To do so, he must prevail in the sealed Keepers tournament held only once every six years.
He believes that winning will help lift the disgrace from his father and correct the past mistake that caused them to be banished from their home, separating him from his mother and his twin brother. However, his father is unyielding: Jun has no Breath mark, and therefore, in his opinion, there is no path for him into the ranks of warriors.
Ignoring the ban, Jun travels to the capital and throws himself into the fight for a place in the tournament. And very soon he realizes: this trial will decide not only his fate— it may determine the future of the country and the lives of those dear to him.
