Description
The novel takes place in conditions of absolute freedom of love, adventures in saloons, and endless drunkenness among people of noble origin. In the morning, however, they come out calmly for breakfast in their presentable homes in elite neighborhoods, kiss the children, and philosophize about the future. The established way of life in several houses is disrupted when suspicious parcels are brought to the doorstep. When the household opens the “gift,” they find parts of a corpse inside.
