A psychological drama about titular adviser Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin—a quiet, timid, and self-doubting man who one day in very Petersburg unexpectedly encounters his own double. Externally, his copy is completely indistinguishable from the original, but in character it turns out to be a direct opposite: bold, cunning, and always managing to be everywhere. From this encounter, Golyadkin’s ordeal begins—a painful fragmentation of the self, where reality blends with painful fantasies and turns into a disturbing, ominous absurdity.
