Description
After the Revolution, Ippolit Vorobyaninov, once a former wealthy man, a secular lion, and a “leader of the nobility,” became an ordinary clerk at the local civil registry office in a small town. He hadn’t forgotten his old habits and often dreams of his former life. One day, the steady course of his life is disrupted: his dying mother-in-law tells Vorobyaninov about an enormous fortune hidden during the Revolution in one of the chairs from the living-room set.
