The Ardís audio studio presents the historical novel “Two Dianas,” published under the name of Alexandre Dumas, but written, according to the diary of the Goncourt brothers, by their student and close friend of Victor Hugo—Paul Meris. The action takes place at the French royal court in 1551–1561 (and the epilogue in 1561–1574) and focuses on two namesakes: Diana de Poitiers, the king’s mistress, and her daughter by the monarch. The novel’s main character is Count Gabriel Montgomery, the accidental killer of King Henry II. The fictional story of his love for the king’s illegitimate daughter, Diane de Castro; the mystery of the disappearance of his father, Jacques Montgomery, twenty years before the events of the novel; and, in the plot, a real story about the peasant Martin Guerre and Arnau d’u Tilly, who pretended to be him, are also used.
