A film is being made based on the Stalingrad essays by Vasily Nikolayevich Lapin. The film crew works in Tashkent. That is exactly where Lapin himself is sent—on the road from Moscow to the Caucasus—to help edit the script. He will have several days without war, which will forever change the rest of his life. And then—back to the front, to where shells tear the ground and where Soviet soldiers demonstrate, every minute, incredible courage, steadfastness, and unbending spirit in the fight against fascism.
