Two Hussars

Leo Tolstoy’s novella, first printed in a magazine with a dedication to M. N. Tolstoy, the author’s sister. One of Tolstoy’s early works translated into another language. In 1875, a French translation was published with a preface by Turgenev, in which the classic wrote: “this story gives a rather precise notion of the manner of Count Lev Tolstoy.”
