Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights

This is both a fairy tale, a parable, and a satire. A story about a not-so-distant future, about the so-called unprecedented things that begin happening in New York and its surroundings; about a genie’s love for an ordinary man; about their offspring left on Earth; and about a war between the dark and the light powers that lasted a thousand and one days. Salman Rushdie competes in the art of storytelling with Scheherazade, whose gift helped her avoid death.
