Description
"The Spirit of Love" (1931) is the debut novel by the popular English writer Daphne du Maurier (1907–1989). The story unfolds in the picturesque landscapes of Cornwall, which became the writer’s second home and often serves as the setting of her works. The novel tells the story of four generations of the family of the Combes, who owned a shipyard, from the 1830s to the 1930s. Du Maurier believed in the spiritual connection between generations, and the novel explores this theme—how kindred souls experience joys and sorrows, love and hatred, and how they find comfort in one another.
