To Live Till Dawn

The story is based on the events of the Great Patriotic War and, like many of the author’s works, is dedicated to them. War is presented as a huge, cruel, merciless event—but it is made up of separate episodes involving real people. The main hero, together with a group of soldiers, must carry out an important operation to destroy the enemy’s base. However, not everything goes according to plan. Lieutenant Ivanovsky, despite everything, strives to complete the mission—if necessary, even at the cost of his own life, and without affecting the outcome. This tense novella by Vasily Bykov brings us back to the concepts of true patriotism and self-sacrifice that ensured Victory. The work uses the musical composition «In Reconnaissance» by Konstantin Racheev performed by Petr Kaledin; director and sound engineer—Igor Yerin.
