Mikhail Sholokhov—each discovers him in their own way. Everyone likes
"their own" hero of Sholokhov’s stories. And that’s understandable.
Because the fates of his heroes, the problems
raised by Sholokhov, resonate with our time. Whatever happens, Sholokhov remained a straightforward, honest, truthful man.
His "Don Tales" are also truthful. In them, Sholokhov expressed his attitude toward the war—which became a tragedy for the people. It is destructive for both sides, brings irreparable losses, and cripples souls.
The writer is right: it is unacceptable when people—reasonable beings—turn to barbarism and self-destruction.
