Dominion

In “Dominion,” by C. J. Sansom, an alternative history is created: a world where Britain surrendered to Germany in 1940. In 1952, the war between Germany and Russia continues, devastating the global economy. In France, Italy, and Spain young people hide from forced labor conscription, while the English endure the horrors of fascist authoritarianism. Meanwhile, resistance led by Churchill tries to change the course of events, and one of the key turning points is a secret kept by a scientist in a psychiatric hospital in Birmingham. The resistance sends a team to kidnap the scientist, but the Gestapo begins a ruthless hunt for the escapees.
