On the outskirts of the city, among standard new-builds, stands the Grey House, where Sphinx, the Blind, the Lord, Tabaki, Macedonian, the Black, and many others live. It’s unknown whether the Lord really comes from a noble line of dragons, but the Blind truly is blind, and the Sphinx is wise. Tabaki isn’t a jackal, of course, though he loves to profit from other people’s things. Each resident in the House has their own nickname, and one day in it sometimes holds as much as we, out in the Outside World, wouldn’t live in our entire lives. Each House either accepts someone or rejects them. The House keeps a huge number of secrets, and the banal “skeletons in the closet” are just the most understandable corner of that unseen world where there is no way in from the Outside, where the usual laws of space-time stop working.
