The book includes the best works of the well-known Soviet writer, translator, and musician, a graduate of the Gnesins music school and the Gorky Literary Institute, one of the largest representatives of Soviet short-story literature, a classic of Russian storytelling by Yuri Pavlovich Kazakov (1927–1982). He was knightly devoted to this genre, where, as he said, “a moment is likened to eternity, equated with life.” Bewitched by the eternal beauty of his native nature, while never ceasing to be amazed by “the incomprehensible multitude of fates, sorrows and joys, and love, and all that we call life,” he created a unique world of his stories. And these, rightly, have entered the golden fund of Russian literature. The best stories by Yu. Kazakov were translated into the major languages of Europe. An important feature of this edition: texts that previously underwent censorship and other edits have been restored in the author’s version.
