Humanity’s biography—that which we call History—is something vague, and in places downright incomprehensible. People live their lives and don’t know that they aren’t merely living, but actually creating History. And even from “the wonderful distance” you can’t always tell who just lived and who truly shaped events… And how are we, in our present time, to understand why one of the Russian emperors chased noble boyars around and cultivated a new nobility, while another did everything possible to grab that very nobility by the ankles. Again, it’s hard to understand why our people are so silent and keep being silent… So it turns out we can’t either figure it out or understand our own historical paths. But it’s interesting how it was really, and even more interesting what would happen if…
