Stories-memories by Yuri Alexandrovich Reingard(t) (1897–1976), a participant in World War I and the White movement, who fought in 1917–1924 in the Volunteer Army. Almost his entire combat path is connected with the 1st Officers’ General Markov Regiment, where he served with the rank of captain. Most of his life he spent in emigration in Brussels.
The most important part of Yuri Reingard(t)’s work consists of stories-memories about events of 1917–1923. They stand out for their vivid narration of the ordinary participants in those events—many of whom are not mentioned by other authors—as well as the author’s original perspective, who is able to see, alongside the tragic nature of the war, the comic side of certain events.
Yuri Alexandrovich Reingard(t)’s stories were published during the author’s lifetime in Russian émigré journals: “The Herald of the First Campaign,” “First Campaigner,” and “Connection by Chains of the Markovites.”
