Edward Newson stands out among other Scotland Yard employees not only for his bright red hair and gentle manners. He is 33 years old—and he is already a senior inspector. But he has two problems: a series of murders that seem absurd at first glance, yet are carefully planned, which he is investigating; and a beauty of a sergeant, Natasha Wilkie—whom he has long loved and hopelessly so. In an attempt to distract himself, the inspector signs up on a site for finding classmates and goes to a “Graduates’ 86” meet-up. But instead of pleasant nostalgia to the tune of “new wave,” the party opens up a whole nest of old sores—and turns out to be directly connected both to the investigation and to Natasha.
