A Tester's Diary

A necessary preface. The first humanist who read this work was left with an insoluble sediment—thanks to the use of terms he had never seen and had never heard anywhere before. The second humanist demanded satisfaction. Therefore, at the bottom of this work you will find a glossary with terms, in case they seem unclear from the text. So if you’re not a computer specialist, you can scroll down, study everything there, and then read purely for pleasure. And what about computer specialists then? They don’t have to read, is that it? Now, about people, firms, and other names. In such cases it’s customary to say that all characters are fictional and any coincidence is absolutely random. We won’t break that tradition. Every last scoundrel and organization in this work was invented by me without much trouble. So if it suddenly occurs to you, Bocharik, that it’s you—that’s not for you to flatter yourself! It’s not you. It’s a mirage. And to make it clear that you are a mirage, I placed your photograph at the end of the main text, but before the glossary.
And one last thing. This is not today. It happened some time ago. When, you can guess from the calendar. Or you can not guess. In the end, what difference does it make, if in a way all this didn’t happen.
