First published in 1913, the novel “Child of the Storm” tells of terrifying and bloody events that took place in South Africa in the second half of the nineteenth century. The famous hunter Allan Quatermain becomes both witness and participant—couldn’t it be his decisions that led to the deaths of thousands of Zulus? Or perhaps the beautiful Mamina is to blame—the most dangerous black girl the hunter ever met. Or maybe someone else is responsible, for whom the heroes of this adventure are merely pawns on the way to their own goal.
Forward, my listener—and I will tell you this story.
