Early eighties. On a dacha in the Moscow region, operatives detain the chief designer of a secret research institute. For a long time he had been secretly passing data about our strategic developments to Western special services. During the interrogation, it turned out the detainee was only one link in a complex spy chain. The main figure, operating under the pseudonym Zvonary, works at the main enterprise in Siberia… An operations group of the KGB led by Major Mikhail Koltsov urgently goes to the scene. And immediately they run into a murder: under unclear circumstances, the deputy director of that same Siberian enterprise is killed. Koltsov is convinced—Zvonary sensed danger, and this death is the beginning of his agony…
