Nine of Swords

Every fortune-teller knows that “Nine of Swords” promises misfortune, but when Magdalen ish t Mazera drew this card, she only snorted in disbelief. After all, employees of the Punitive Inspection don’t believe in such nonsense—so Mrs. ish t Mazera came not to find out the future, but to gather information about a necromancer terrorizing ordinary citizens. Of course, not by cards.

Only the hunter and the victim have already swapped places—and soon the necromancer will hand Magdalen a quite real “Nine of Swords.”
