In the years of socialism, the so-called “diapositive films” (diafilms) were very popular—reels of film strips with slides containing illustrations of works of art, accompanied by short subtitles; in other words, a kind of “slide-comics” intended for family viewing with a projector.
A. and B. Strugatsky were the authors of one diafilm called “Taya’s Ninth Planet,” dated 1964. However, its content does not strictly match any of the works by ABS. The plot of the diafilm resembles the story “Private Assumptions” and, in places, “The Inhabited Island.”
