An auto mechanic, Dima Khrustov—who everyone calls Khrust—never considered himself a hero. But at some point, fragments of memories that were nearly destroyed begin to return to him: a base in another world, two lunar discs in the sky, daily battles with fierce creatures, and a girl he loved.
The trouble is that his fellow servicemen insist there was no other reality—Khrust went through the most ordinary conscript service at a remote garrison. And the strange pictures in his head, they say, are only fantasies—things one might as well take to a psychiatrist.
Trying to make sense of it, Khrust realizes that his memory was erased not only for him, but also for his friends. All that remains is to find the main thing—whether he is willing, for the sake of the truth and love, to pay the highest price.
