Lizzie Howley’s life was going wonderfully. She met her future husband back in high school, they married, and they finished university; Erich had a brilliant career, and Lizzie bore him two children. But, alas, feelings faded. They were not meant to live happily ever after.
Lizzie didn’t mope for long: her children, Theo and Julietta, were still small, and she couldn’t afford such a luxury as depression.
Now the children are grown and long gone, and she has completely devoted herself to work. She became the owner of a fashionable boutique on her native island of Nantucket. Only her beloved home needs repairs. Lizzie turns to Mac Whitney, a local contractor. Between them a spark flares, and Lizzie feels like she can finally trust a man again. The only problem is that Mac is ten years younger than she is.
As if they’ve conspired together, Theo and Julietta return for the summer. Each brings home their own suitcases full of failures, disappointments, and fears. They worry about their mother, afraid that Mac might break her heart.
The residents of Nantucket will have to get through a summer full of surprises, hopes, and love.
