“Deniskin Stories” is a cycle of stories by the Soviet writer Viktor Dragunsky, devoted to episodes from the life of a preschooler and then a primary school student, Denis Korablev. Published since 1959, the stories became classics of Soviet children’s literature, were reprinted many times, and were adapted into films several times. They were included in the list of “100 Books for Schoolchildren” compiled in 2012.
The prototype for the main character was the writer’s son.
