A Day Across the Week

«Day Across the Week» is a novel made up of stories about family, friendship, and pivotal eras: both the 1990s and the present day. At the center is a hero who begins as a boy of perestroika, goes through the adolescent 1990s, and grows up before the reader’s eyes from story to story. His loved ones strive to make life better; around them, the backdrops of time are changing rapidly. Yet the 1990s are shown without emphasis on crime or politics—through a teenage viewpoint that notices more light and shades of meaning. The concluding novella takes us into the present: smartphones, coffee on every corner, and a heavy news feed. And on one of those days—across the week—fate, for the hero already an adult forty-year-old, makes a sudden turn.
