Descartes' Demon

Everyone is possessed by their own demon. Someone, like Faust, chooses his Mephistopheles; and someone chooses the demon of Descartes himself — the Cartesian demon of skepticism and doubt, granting a person a double vision of things and phenomena. The hero, Vladimir Rafeenko’s Ivan Levkin, is doomed to periodically be reborn, and each time his closest and dearest people don’t recognize him. Wandering the world under someone else’s guise, Levkin remembers all his past incarnations and suffers because he can’t choose just one fate. And Descartes’ demon laughs at him and, as usual, wants evil and does good..
