For the first time in modern Russia, a project is being launched consisting of detective books connected by the main heroes and a single storyline. The authorship of the novels included in this series will be kept secret until the publication of the last book in the series. The intrigue lies in whose pen these works belong to—whether it’s one author or a creative collective of writers.
The audio version of the detective “The Case of Zili Sultan” opens the project “ANONYMUS.” Our days. The senior investigator of the Investigative Committee, Orest Volin, is tasked with handling a case in which a young woman nearly died. During the investigation, Volin finds a hidden box containing diaries written in a rapid hand. After decoding the first diary, it turns out that the notes belong to a person hiding behind the pseudonyms “Adviser to the Court X” as well as “Nestor Vasilyevich Zagorsky.” The first of the found diaries is dated 1918 and tells of events from 1886.
At the request of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Girs, Adviser to the Court Nestor Zagorsky is sent to Persia. Here the official heir of the reigning shah of Naser ad-Din Qajar is announced not as the elder son Zili Sultan, but as the younger son—Mozaffar. There is information that the dissatisfied Zili Sultan is preparing a coup to overthrow his father from the throne and become shah himself. If he comes to power, Russia’s interests will suffer a devastating blow—without even mentioning the possible beginning of a civil war in Persia. Zagorsky’s task is to uncover the conspiracy being prepared and, if possible, prevent its execution. Together with his assistant and servant, Ganzalin, he sets off for Persia.
